An opportunity has arisen for the post of Assistant Pastor (Minister of Religion). The post holder will be expected to provide leadership into the life and direction of the church and have a firm grasp on the purpose, values, and strategy of Divine Covenant Ministries.

His/Her job includes among others:

Support the Senior Pastor in fulfilling the church’s forward movement in its mission and vision.

Prepares and delivers sermons, talks and leads the congregation in worship

Able to assist in leading the congregation in regular worship and Sunday services.

Organize conventions and be capable of preaching and leading prayers.

Able to assist in organizing and conducting baptismal classes and carry out baptisms for qualified church members.

Performs marriages, funerals, baptisms, christenings, dedications  able to administer Holy Communion, and other special religious rites

Well, sound in Biblical Doctrines in order to grow church members in the Spirit and moral concepts.

Assist in finding a new identity for the congregation and assist in the planting of new church branches

Encourage leadership development/power shifts and be ready to participate in the ministry weekly staff meeting.

Provides pastoral care to members of the congregation in their homes and in hospitals, counsels those in need of spiritual or moral guidance.

Maintain or establish strong links with other denominations

Required language: English and any Nigerian Language.

Postgraduate / Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline

Must have relevant Christian Pastoral training in Theology and Church planting.

Contract:

This post is initially for 3 years which could be extended depending on the achievements of targets by the post holder within the initial first year.

Job Type: Full-time.

Salary: £1,300 per month

Hours: 35hrs working week, equivalent to 5 working days. This will include some evenings and weekends

Working Term: Contract

Benefits Salary: As a growing charity organization, we are willing to pay a salary in the region of £1,300 per month, which will increase with time. This role attracts 25 days’ annual leave per annum; plus all public holidays

The Congregation and session shall be responsible for:

  • Shall support the pastor in his/her ministry
  • Provide regular financial compensation according to the terms of the contract
  • Provide for an annual performance review or at least thirty days prior to the end of the contract
  • Review the adequacy of compensation after one year.

In the event the contract period expires or is terminated by the Church without cause, the Pastor shall receive a continuance of compensation including effective salary
